My love for perfume has a lot to do with my mom. She always wears perfume and it is something we have in common. Whenever I smell Yves Saint Laurent's Opium, my mom's signature scent, it always make me think of her ;).
I want to be like my mom so I am always on the mission to find my signature scent, however, I am pretty sure I have commitment issues when it comes to perfume. My lovely sister thinks I suffer from perfume obsession.
In my quest for the next best perfume I acquired See by Chloé. I coveted it for almost 1 year before I decided to bring it home. Every time I passed by Sephora or any department store with perfume counters I would spray myself into oblivion with this scent.
To make long story short, I bought it and our conscious lifelong coupling did not work out. Don't get me wrong it is a lovely scent that last exactly 5 seconds and after it is just gone forever.
Just because we didn't work out I still didn't give up and sprayed it every time I saw the bottle. I don't think anyone smelled it but I am not too disappointed. Very weak lasting power aside bottle is simply elegant and chic with retro flair.
Chloé describes the scent as Feminine, irresistible, spontaneous. With notes of bergamot, apple blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang, vanilla, musk and sandalwood. If you like very subtle and soft scent you might actually like Chloé, as for me I am back on my quest for my signature scent or scents ;).

scents and moms, hmm, perfume always invokes a cuddly momsy, pedagogical sense in me. Partly because I broke, spilled, and clumsily sought to hide the evidence when I accidentally dropped and totaled my mom's favourite perfume, J'ai Ose, by Guy Laroche, 30 years ago, while on a two-day flu home stay!
ReplyDeleteBut hey, my childhood is full of such mishaps. adult life ditto!
I grew up allergic and intolerant of most scents (intentionally so??) until a close friend gifted Channel's Allure to me at 24 and I was hooked. Couldn't get enough of that heavy hardcore scent. carried it everywhere in my bag to spray on at will.
Epiphany ... like those fast forward, heavily-musical scenes in B-movies ... I consolidated my allegiance to Channel in 2005 by religiously wearing the Mademoiselle for 3 consecutive years and gifting it to close friends -- including the one who gave me the Allure -- and moonlighted on Gucci quite a bit in the meantime too.
My signature perfume though, turned out to be ZEN by your favourite skincare master Shiseido. Absolutely amazing and transcendental
(my two humble cents!)
Love it! You should write about Shiseido Zen for my blog! :)
